WILLIAMSPORT -- The only way to spell the performance of District 4 in the first night of competition in the PIAA Northeast AA Regionals is D-O-M-I-N-A-T-I-O-N.

When the first round was completed and the results were in the books, District 4 had come up with 49 winners in 56 bouts, the other seven wins obviously going to District 2 of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area.

Although team points don’t mean much after just one round of wrestling, here are the top 10 teams with the number of semifinalists in parentheses:

1. Benton (6) 20, 2. Athens (5) 16, 3. Muncy (4) 13, 4. Montoursville (4) 12.5, 5. Warrior Run (3 ) 12, 6. Towanda (3 ) 11.5, 7. Shamokin (4) 11, 8. Lewisburg (3) and Wyalusing (3) 10, 10. Line Mountain (2) and South Williamsport (3) 7.

Wrestling is scheduled to resume at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning with the championship semifinals and consolation quarterfinals taking place simultaneously.
